In addition to actual physical harm, bad indoor air in schools has been proven to directly affect academic performance. Poor air management can lower test scores, reduce cognition and increase absence rates.
In 2022, in-house research identified IAQ as a major problem across the Hong Kong school system. For reference, we also conducted research on CO₂ levels in MTR trains.
Our research found many classrooms unsafe, with levels of CO₂ in excess of 1,400 ppm, similar to a crowded MTR train.
