Clean Air and Bright Futures for Every Child

Air pollution in the many parts of the world, e.g., the Western Balkans is severely impacting children's health. Exposure to pollutants is widespread, causing respiratory illnesses, heart problems, and brain damage. The region has the highest rate of child deaths related to air pollution in Europe and Central Asia.

UNICEF is working to address this issue by strengthening air quality governance, promoting child-sensitive municipal action plans, and engaging young people in advocacy. The initiative aims to improve air quality, protect children's health, and create a more sustainable future for the Western Balkans and other polluted regions.
